Green Algae Found in Hadlock

Green Algae Found in Hadlock

A sample was collected and sent in to The Fund for Lake George folks who tested it. The sample was dominated by Cladophora sp.  a "green algae".  This form can become a nuisance algae.  when it dies and decomposes, it can wash up onto beaches and make them very unsightly.  It is normally noted in bodies of water due to enrichment (excessive nutrients.)

More information can be found at the following website:

Please note any algae you see and let LHA know please.  They seem to be near artesian well overflows from homes.

CSLAP reported that the bloom has tested NEGATIVE for toxicity.

Please remember that algae blooms are full of bacteria.  People should still stay away from algae blooms and let them dissipate naturally.

Thank you for your patience.
