New York State Environmental Conservation Department has completed their field assessment of the area that possibly contained suspicious material at the north end of Lake Hadlock. It is their conclusion that the substance previously identified and found during harvesting operations last week is in fact a large accumulation of vegetation that has collected over an extended period of time and decomposed. They do not feel that the situation is harmful to human beings.
This matter is closed.

Message from LHPD Park Manager re: Harvester
As I am sure some of you are aware, the mechanical harvester has not been operational for almost two weeks due to a major mechanical breakdown. It is unknown at this point if parts will be available to continue operations through Labor Day weekend.
