Ongoing Dam Repairs and Maintenance

 Ongoing Dam Repairs and Maintenance

The Board of the Town of Fort Ann acting as Commissioners of the Hadlock Park District has hired the engineering firm Aldrich and Haley to perform the NYS required annual inspection of the Lake Hadlock Dam.  During their September 2015 inspection, the engineering firm identified an ongoing leak in the precast concrete structure embedded within the upstream slope of the dam.  This leak was deemed not to threaten the immediate integrity of the Dam, but rather requires repair to maintain the long term structure of the Dam.  A similar repair was made approximately 3 years ago.

The Town has directed Aldrich and Haley to develop specifications for the required work and to solicit Requests For Proposals (RFP) from responsible construction companies to proceed with the work.  To perform the required work, the Lake must be full.  Therefore, the Town has begun the process of filling the lake while the RFP process is proceeding.  Currently, the Town is without a website.  As this process of repairing the dam proceeds, LHA will continue the ongoing communications with Supervisor Moore and update our website with any new developments.

Update - Algae Bloom tested Negative

We have received the results on testing the algae bloom(click Read More for a photo) located at the north end of the lake.

CSLAP reported that the bloom has tested NEGATIVE for toxicity.

Please remember that algae blooms are full of bacteria.  People should still stay away from algae blooms and let them dissipate naturally.

Thank you for your patience.
